Is there anything in particular that you would like to express or ask?

If you give some more details about any biopsy you may have had, along with the "numbers" and findings reported on your pathology report or blood tests, that could be helpful.

Likewise, details from your radiology/imaging reports confirming your metatstatic condition could help, too.

Aside from such "medical" details, ...... what's on your mind and heart, lately?

Rotten...you have rotten luck...Call Dr. Kwon at The Mayo Clinic 507-538-5363 ....you state it has spread to your organs....if the liver is one of those organs you have months to live without aggressive treatment

Well your oncologist will give you choices in the direction YOU choose to go forward for treatment. I can not tell you what to do, yet I support your choices. Six years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate bone cancer. I chose to have had 30 additional radiations ( I already had 42 radiations for prostate cancer.) My oncologist started me on a shot of Lupron every 3 months. My PSA went down to 0.00 for 6 years now. I did not have surgery, because the Lupron took my androgen levels down to close to 0.00. You know we also make androgens in our adrenal glands above the kidneys. Without androgens my metastatic prostate cells can not subdivide in other parts of my body and tumors may not form because the cells can not multiply. Every prostate cell weather cancerous or not has spot on the cell called the "AR" (androgen receptor.) This receptor sends a signal to the cell nucleus when and androgen is present to make a new DNA molecule and start mitosis. When NO androgen is present the cells can NOT multiply and form tumors anywhere in the body. Single cells my break off and go into the blood stream where they usually attach to bone tissue. They form a "pock mark" on the bone and then sink into the bone. This causes the bone density to lower and the oncologist may gave a few shots of Xgeva (a drug used for osteoporosis).

Now everyone is different. What I did was because of the location of the cancer, my Gleason score, and other diseases I have, like diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease. My age was 66 (now I am 72). New drugs and techniques are on the market, so check with your oncologist what is available now, also not all therapies are covered by insurance, so check the cost as well.

The AR is a transcription factor - involved in gene expression, primarily. The prostate cell has many many ARs inside. The relationship of Testosterone, the AR, and cell division is less than clear.

There is no one standard treatment for this disease. You will have to make decisions regarding treatment options and doctors. Educate yourself. Your being here is a good start in that direction. Best of luck to you, there is hope.

Keep faith and hope stay positive as possible. It’s no cake walk but you can survive this .Be your own advocate. There is so much more too this than just physical .Because homonally driven you will be cut off of that. You need to dig deep on this one. This is a test that you can pass. Don’t give in to gloom and doom .The initial news is like getting whacked in the head by a 2ny 4 .But you don’t have time to waste.My angel now my wife and I cried for 2weeks when we got the news. I asked her to marry me.She said yes. Without her love I would not of made it. A-Flash forward 21/2 yrs no visable signs. .Thats posible for you also. If I could do it anyone can. You must be diligent on your health. I suggest that you go all out and go way beyond what the drs tell you to do. They sell the conventional treatments needed at our stage to survive. But it entirely up to you to eat healthy and retain your emotional sanity. Being stripped of T is ruff and you will change in almost every way. But what makes you a man is not physical .It is honesty and integrity and kindness and love for others and yourself. Macho goes out the door. Don’t listen to anyone ‘s negativity. Only you can turn this around. It is a fight for life cituation .. You can do this. Seek info, seek your own healing .You will get many informed answers here to “Any” question that you might have .This is a therapeutic spot for all of us. .Priority #1 is to get over fear, fear of the unknown fear of death .Once you pass that ,then you can funtion better .Be strong and never give up .Thare are many reasons for you to live a long life. Be good to your self and the ones close to you .Peace to you!

It allows you to live the rest of your life to the fullest, But I do not know that word "give up", "If we are always worried about dying, we can not live any more" FT

I just found out 10/8/2017. Have not had any treatments yet. Talked to a radiologist 10/20/2017. Have to go 10/25/2017 to get bone density test and MRI to see if spread to any other organs.

Keep us posted, do you have at diagnosis psa, and gleason score? What treatments are they planning? Let us know the results of the scans, we have all been through it. I wish you the best

There is a lot of great information on this web site. I recommend a meditation class. My husband(with prostate cancer) and I started one and it is wonderful. It is mindfulness meditation. I hope you can find some in your area. It will help to teach you to relax and if you practice will make you feel better. If there is no class in your area, you can buy the meditations and try it on your own. Our instructor recommends 30 minutes a day... along with mini-mediations throughout the day. It is not a religious class so don't worry about it conflicting with any religious views. It is stress reduction. I can explain what mini-mediations are to you if you wish.

Relax and take it one day at a time.
