Alfred Samuels a 5 year advanced metastatic prostate cancer survivor. PSA on presentation 509 ng/ml...(though it was believed that it went over 800 ng/ml). PSA after 7 months of treatment on the stampede trials program using Abiraterone/Prostap is less than 0.1ng/ml. Currently, my cancer is managed very well indeed...

Sounds like a terrific response to therapy. I think there's an excellent chance that your cancer will be fully controlled until you die of something else.

Hi Alsam

Glad to hear your PSA is down.

Was Aberaterone your first line of treatment?

Hi,

Yes, it was my first line of treatment when I was diagnosed with advanced metastatic prostate cancer...Though it must be said the first three months I was given the standard treatment of the hormone injection whilst the paper work was sorted out to admit onto the Stampede Drug Trials program.....

Many Thanks

Pretty much mirrors my experience. My PSA dropped from a little under 600 to immeasurable within 4 weeks, where it has stayed for the last 6 years.

Abiraterone seems to be a real winner.

Glad it worked for you, and for so long. I started end of June, went from 225 to 165 first two weeks, then 150 two more weeks, then 4 weeks later back to 220. I go back to see the MO Oct 2, and my guess is that if we still have a rising PSA then it is not going to work for me....and I have no idea what is next. Peace.

Sorry that its not working for you...They always told me if mine stopped working then they had other things that they could use...I suppose what I am trying to say is there are alternative drugs on the market these days...So dont give up please....

Excellent to hear that there are others out there who have had the same success with Abiraterone.....

Hi my father is 65 and after 4 months of testicles removal and aberapro since then till now his PSA is now 0.1 and latest MRI is showing clear shrink of prostate and no problem at lymph nodes as his prostate cancer was spread till lymph nodes so now doctors are suggesting radiation therapy 40 sessions.. So should we go ahead or not with radiation?? Highly confused..
