Neulasta side effects. How long do they last?

I am in day 11 after 5th cancer treatment. I have had a lot of pain this time. The Doc blames it on my Neulasta shot. They claimed it should go away in 7 to 8 days. I still am getting a lot pain. Has anybody had a similar experience? If so how long did it last?

Common side effects of Neulasta include:

bone pain,

pain in your arms or legs, or

injection site reactions (bruising, swelling, pain, redness, or a hard lump).

Get medical help right away if you have rare but very serious side effects of Neulasta including:

breathing problems (e.g., trouble breathing, shortness of breath, fast breathing).

I had bone pain. The doctor and all the nurses told me to take Zyrtec (the over the counter allergy medicine). No idea why it works, but it brought me a lot of relief.

I'd suggest giving it a try.

Hope this helps. 😊

My husband did Neulasta once - and then he switched to Neupogen (once a day), and he only did it for 3-4 days post treatment. He got a pretty low blood count so he had to have it, but he also really didn't like the side effects from the Neulasta. It's a little hassle to go back each day for the Neupogen. For us the clinic is a 5-minute drive so not a big deal. You might consider that for next time?

Sorry you are in pain and I hope it subsides. Maybe ask doc what kind of pain relievers might help (NSAIDs like Advil or other things like Tylenol or Vicodin, etc.)

Oh yeah - Zyrtec. Someone posted that below. I think my husband took Claritin maybe, or Zyrtec. In any case - it did help. Apparently they're not sure why!

I am on day 5 of my first Taxotere. I had bone pain on the day after the Neulasta shot. My bone aches one might associate with the flue. One day only right after receiving shot. Doc also prescribed Claritin for the bone pain. My understanding is that Neulasta stimulates production of white blood cells. So the more pain the better my cell production is what I tell myself.

Hope you find some relief. Its hard to ignore that kind of discomfort. I'm on the trail with you brother and see you in front of me. I wish you healthy days, courage and peace.
