hi everyone I’m new here.

I became very depressed a few weeks ago and came the the conclusion that it was the matoride XL (methylphenidate) that was causing it. I stopped talking it immediately and felt better the day after, It’s now been over a week and I feel so much better and realise that it through a vale over my entire personality.

Has anyone else here had a similar experience with it?

Lee. 🙃

Hi! How long have you been taking it for, what dosage and how long have you been diagnosed with ADHD? Did medication helped you in the beginning of treatment?

hi Bobby, I was diagnosed 18 months ago and started taking 54mg four months later July. I became about 30% more productive at work, I’m self employed and being a stimulant it helped me get through losing my childhood sweetheart of 33 years. I feel so much better now I’m completely off it. It’s worth mentioning that I take a myriad of vitamins and minerals that are recommended in a book I read called Finally Focused it’s by an American psychiatrist and in it his research on vitamin and mineral deficiencies found in people with ADHD is eye opening.

I now believe the wave of depression may have been caused by me stopping my exercise routine, I’d run between 8 and 12k 5-6 days a week. The depression came to its peak 3-4 weeks after my last run. I’m now back running and walking. I’ll try to remember to update this post in the coming weeks.

For myself, Vyvanse was the first medication I was trialed on and over time i came to realize it had a major emotional flattening effect on me. We tried a methylphenidate type medication and the difference was night and day. Its over-all maybe less effective for certain aspects but the emotional impact for me is zero. I feel completely normal in every way, my brain just works better. Everyone responds differently so it's worth trying other options and seeing if they don't have that very real and undesirable side effect.
