Anger management / emotion regulation

Hi all,

I'm looking for advice regarding keeping my emotions in check. The day-to-day issues I have are ceaseless ruminating and flying off the handle about things that really aren't a big deal, in hindsight. I've been having some excruciating issues the past few months with an L5-S1 disc issue in my back, and now migraines have revisited me twice in as many weeks after quite some time away. It seems like my body and now my brain are becoming more inconsolable by the day, so I'm looking for practical tips from other ADHDers (because ordinary anger management tutorials didn't help me) to keep me from taking it out on the people I love. I'm grateful for all insight and tips.

Thank you.

I'm not an ADHDer (the wife of an undiagnosed one) but I'm sorry to hear you're struggling.

Though I don't live it, maybe something like this will help?

Hi Eulalia,

This is excellent; thank you for this. I hope you're able to get him on board with getting a diagnosis soon.

Thank you.

And by the way...? Back pain would make ANYONE irritable. Maybe give yourself some Grace on that one. 🙂

As one who has had Undiagnosed ADHD

as a young girl in the late ‘60s, I also

started getting bad headaches which were

inherited. Bad headaches can be hellacious

U need to see if U R getting cluster

headaches, a group at a time, under

extreme stress, etc. don’t beat yourself

Up over this. If the source is extreme

stress than that needs to be addressed.

I know this easier said than done during

COVID, but U can try to at least

try Indian chokras for relaxation, go to

an ENT to check out any sinus issues to

start off. Try listening to music that U

like and try visualization of some

pleasant experience U might have

had or just a peaceful and beautify

Vision

Hi Shnookie,

Thank you; you're right, I need to visualize good things more than bad or at least start out giving them equal real estate in my head.

Hi Mc mayhem. Happy 😃 I could suggest an idea that might help out. There is also

the concept of cognitive thinking 🤔 that I

have been learning from my therapist

that has helped me to an extent. Also

turning to another point, if there is a song

Or type of music, etc on YouTube, U

can check it out. My musical likes R

all over the place, but to get yourself

moving and maybe dancing 💃🏼 around

and putting a smile 😊 on your

face try James Brown

Living in America. I’m in the process of

looking 4 a new job but was a caregiver

4 my client Ann who had severe

dementia and would play this or

YMCA by the Village people and this

88 year old woman with limited cognitive

awarement really got into it and was

dancing in her chair. I’m here 4 U
