Does anyone have a few tools for training self control? I'm trying to find a psychology in my city who knows about ADHD but I had no luck.

Self control is a tough one. . . Fitness has been my biggest help in conquering my will- some sort of physical self discipline- the strength to get out and run or something has always helped me in other areas where my self control is weak. When I am really out of sorts, I watch some motivational videos on youtube on strength and endurance.

I swim and this is a big help with my self-esteem and self-confidence. I know, the pool been closed for a week for maintenance. I haven’t exercised. I am feeling out-if-sorts.

I would say the excercise or physical activity really helped me to start aknowledging and doing the true work to make positive change in my life. I always ran to impulse when I tried to force myself to do something that didn't feel right for me.

Start small and achievable. Always baby steps. And don't get discouraged if you stall. Just work on trying again.

Exercise had been the biggest help for me until I added Trintellix on to my regular Adderall dosages. Trintellix basically removed my lack of self-control and impulse issues completely. I actually feel boring now.

Adderall isn't approved in Brazil. I will have to take Ritalin for a While because I can't find my normal meds to buy. I'm starting swimming lessons in February, but for now I'm trying to take walks in my lunch, but Noon it's my most productive time, so I rarely go out for a meal, sometimes I eat in my desk or don't eat at all

I find self control and procrastination a"mongst my biggest bugaboos. For example, I'm supposed to be working on billing for my job, and here I am talking to you. I don't know if you're familiar with the12 step group Underearner's Annymous, but they deal with a number of these issues. They have, amongst other tools, action partners, with whom you commit you're going to accomplish "xyz" within a certain time frame and they commit something to you. We're not talking about big projects but just small goals working towards the bigger ones. I'd love to find a parner for this. Maybe we could get a group of us doing this. If anyone is interested, please contact me at ezrashrink@yahoo.com.

Hi. I'm sending you a brief email because guess what I'm doing. The same thing I was doing when I first responded, i.e. billing for my job. They probably think by now that I'm volunteering...
