Oh no, I’m afraid that’s the path I’m heading. I was on Adderall for 16 years. So last week my doctor lowered my Adderall and put me on a low dose of strttara. I see him this Monday and going to ask he let me try Vyvanse out and that it wouldn’t hurt to at least try it. Vyvanse Ive been told is a stimulant but unlike Adderall it works a little ifferently. Like it takes about an hour before it starts working, you dont feel the Eufora ( sorta that high feeling you get from Adderall where you feel really good). That feeling can feel real good and for me I wanted to keep feeling it more of it so i stared taking two pills or three instead of one like i was prescribed. When I started doing that it was causing a chemical imbalance i was on too much medication 1/2 the time and then on no medication the other half of the time causeing bipoler symptoms. I finally rolls my doctor because I new I wasn’t going to have a life I wanted if i kept doing this. I tried to stop but I couldn’t as much as i wanted to. Thats why i want to try Vyvanse.

I’m angry at myself for causing this problem. Adderall when i took it correctly i had no side effects and it worked so good. I wish when i got prescribed Adderall in the beginning i knew to go see a therapist someone who could have educated me on adhd.

Antidepressants help? It sounds like no, you mentioned you haven’t worked since. What would you like to change in your life yourself? Are you seeing your psychiatrist still and do you talk about why your not on stimulant medication?

Kudos to you for staying off so long. I have been taking ADHD meds for over 20 years and can't fathom what you went through. I've been taking 60 mg of adderal for 5 years and due to short supply at the pharmacy after a hurricane, had to go without for 2 weeks. It felt like I was living in the 3rd layer of hell. Nothing gave me happiness and I just wanted to die.

Although I have no advice to share, I DO share your struggle and would like feedback as well. Thank you so much for sharing

Not sure what happened to the reply (said it was deleted?) However, yeah. 60 mgs is 20X 3 a day. I usually took 1 and a half twice a day as it seemed to work better with my schedule.

Someone posted a website about the" latest greatest" so I checked it out but it was another stupid ad.

If I missed something or offended someone, you can inbox me. I'm just trying to get better.

Stimulants... and what a therapeutic dose is for one person may vary greatly to the next person... 60 mg a day for someone who has been taken stimulants their entire life and Adderall only lasts 4 hours for them...means 30 mg in the morning and 30 mg again at lunch...which still leaves you from around 3pm into the evening not medicated at all...which is extremely discouraging for someone who is now on Mydayis 50 mg in the morning ( it claims to last up to 18 hours...however... again that varies from person to person based on their particular enyzmes and other factors...it definitely doesn't last me even 8 hours...however, It does last longer than a 30 mg Adderall ( extended release were not effective for me)...and then a 30 mg Adderall in the afternoon...which works well until 3:30/4 pm...however, from 4pm -8 pm when I still need to focus on many crucial and important things in my life...I'm left with no medication help!!! My doctor says he sees rhat I'm in a tough spot, however, he doesn't want to risk me going into cardiac arrest!!! This may be a likely risk for some people, however not for others!!! I've had an EKG that came back normal... and I definitely don't want to put my heart at risk...however, adding a second 30 mg Adderall around 4:30 pm at the same dose that I've been taking for years with no health problems regarding it...THANK GOD...will not significantly put my heart under any extra risk then now...Vyvanse wasn't effective for me...I pray that there is or soon will be a stimulant that does actually last the length of your entire day...or that I find a doctor who is actually currently up to date on any new research, enlightening information and guideline changes, as well as the outliers that exist among us...that may require a higher dose and/or frequency of dose to adequately cover are symptoms throughout the entire day!!! A doctor who actually specializes in ADHD and can truly understand where I'm coming from and what is needed to actually help me drive again, finish school, work again, and to be able and successfully function through an entire day without my symptoms pulling my strings...and instead me managing my symptoms...able to feel more confident in my future...instead of what can feel like a hamster wheel going nowhere...except, that I know in my heart and soul that their is help out there...just extremely difficult to find and afford due to the stigma of ADHD and taking stimulants, due to not having the right insurance or being able to afford paying out of pocket being on disability...and also the major lack of awareness and understanding of what ADHD is and all the factors that can effect each person similarly and differently!!! I have suffered from major depression/anxiety and PTSD... therefore I also take medications for those diagnoses...THANK YOU to anyone who has taken the time to read this...and if you know of anything, of anyone and/or any resources that might be able to help me...please let me know...I will GREATLY appreciate it!!! One day... maybe... I won't need to take this medication anymore, however...I Know how it has made such a positive difference in my life and I didn't come this far...to only come this far...and I'm thankful I'm alive and have this chance to make positive changes!!!
