fighting adhd and studying
I find listening to music of white noise extremely helpful, you may need to play around to see what kind works for you if any. I tend to jump around between different genres. I am also currently experimenting with timers, working for a minimum of a certain amount of time then getting a break for a certain amount of time. Also, frequent activity, getting up and moving while studying or during breaks can help.
Hope that helps!
I agree with these tips. I found some great study playlists on Apple Music but it has to be on earphones otherwise it's more of a distraction. I set a timer for 45min and then I am not "allowed" to do anything else until the timer goes off. I find that I focus very well if I know it's just 45min before my next break. I then set a timer for 10min and play with my dogs or do some lunges (I have hip problems so if I sit too long it starts to hurt) or make some coffee. This helps me limit my break time otherwise I end up taking a "break" for 3 hours. The absolute best "trick" is using a body double. I'm not sure where I read about it (maybe on ADDitude Magazine) but it works like a charm! Get a friend/partner to sit near you while you work. They can be reading a book or playing on their tablet or anything they can do for several hours. I get tons more work done if my husband sits with me when I study. I finally understand the point of study groups - just make sure the person doesn't end up distracting you even more.
