ADD Rehab?

I was diagnosed with ADD 18 years ago, given meds and therapy for depression and anxiety, but never really taught how to cope day-to-day. I am currently at a low point. Is there some type of ADD "rehab" where you go for a couple of weeks for comprehensive treatment? Many thanks.

Hey. I totally understand how you feel. I was in the same boat growing up. I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 6, and all anyone ever did about it was give me meds. I grew up in a rural community where there weren't a lot of treatment options. I'm a freshman in college and have been off meds for almost 2 years now, but it wasn't easy. It was a lot of self-teaching and trial-and-error. I always wished there was therapy that actually helped or a retreat you could go to or something like that. My biggest piece of advice would be to find friends who understand what you're going through. I never had a lot of close friends until I started finding people who were either understanding or who also had ADHD or ADD.

PS. I like your username, it's cool.

Hey there Radddd - I’m looking for that same thing - recommendations for a treatment facility that specializes/treats patients with ADD...About me - long story short - ADHD inattentive type, somewhat “successful”, but still riddled with anxiety, depression, and self doubt. I realized that I need to take a break, so I’ve searched for treatment facilities for a two week program for “executives”. Unfortunately, no facilities have stood out for me. I can only attend treatment for two weeks...Any recommendations???

Hi Happy_Kitty,

thanks for sharing. your post offers good nuggets of truth.

Could you offer suggestions for an mid-life adhd adult with few friends to create healthy engaging new sustainable relationships? I find creating new friendships at this stage in life with like minded people, w/ adhd and /or common interest is difficult often because people don't have capacity for new friendship at this life stage.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Hey, I've recently discovered that meditation helps a lot. While it doesn't offer a quick fix, a few minutes a day can make a big difference. I have been doing it before going to bed every night and I have been sleeping a lot better and I have been making better decisions and having an easier time focusing as a result. An app that was recommended to me called Headspace is great for getting started, but I've found that now that I know how to do it I prefer to do it without the walkthrough. Hope this helps!
