My homeschooled 14-year-old grandson wants to attend public high school this fall. He's continuing to struggle with organization and other executive functioning skills. He wants friends and there are no older kids around. What have been your experiences?

Our son is the same age and we are trying to decide what route to go for high school for him this fall. He’s been in a very small private school but is excited about a bigger school and more freedom. He’s in the same boat with his executive functioning challenges. We are thinking a smaller school would be better for him (less challenges to navigate) but will get him a 504 in writing no matter where he goes. We will likely have to advocate for him to get those accommodations but we are excited for him to have the opportunity to try some different clubs and electives than what he’s had in middle school.
What interests does your grandson have?
Approximately where do you live? Where you homeschool can make a big difference.
