Question about CHADD.org
Chadd.org has helped many families. I read this statement on their website:
Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)
CHADD does not endorse products, services, publications, medications, or treatments, including those advertised in any CHADD publications, webinars or podcasts.
Does that help?
Hi. Within the CHADD.org we site, you can check funding sources. Click on IRS form 990 and you will see a listing of all income sources for a particular year.
CHADD is a membership organization made up primarily of parents/relatives of someone with ADHD, adults with ADHD, professionals who work with people with ADHD (therapists and coaches) and teachers. We do not have corporate members like drug companies. This is our constituency and this is who we represent. We do not represent or endorse any particular treatments be it drugs or otherwise.
Hello BlakeyLa36,
Thank you for your question. I am always happy to answer these types of questions.
CHADD does not receive kickbacks of any kind from pharmaceutical companies for medications. There is no financial connection between a family's private decision to include medication and CHADD.
CHADD discusses with families the benefits and drawbacks of including medication, along with behavioral management, parent and family training, educational support, and other lifestyle supports. We have always stressed that a family needs to make an informed decision when it comes to medication, but we do not advocate for or against the use of medication.
CHADD receives funding from many sources, primary from our membership program and our on-going cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which funds our National Resource Center Program. In fact, CHADD cannot receive more than a third of its funding from pharmaceutical company donations. If you check out our financial information, which is available online, you will see that we currently receive much less than a third of funding from those donations.
I encourage you to take a look at our funding information at

Thank you!

Decide for yourself. I think they're a med pusher. Everyone is in it for the money anymore. Even my sons allergist. The fact is sometimes meds are needed, you just need to do your own due diligence before using them and decide if they're right yourself.

Hello Klmamma,
CHADD has always encouraged families and parents to to work closely with their pediatricians to explore treatment options for ADHD and to make an informed decisions about medication as part of treatment. We are partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to promote evidence-based information and treatment on ADHD,
I'm sorry to see a link to CCHR. This organization is a branch of an organization that has a well-known disbelief in mental health care and discourages people from seeking mental health care outside of its own system of belief.
I encourage you, and anyone who is interested, to visit our website or participate in one of our support groups. I am always happy to answer questions about CHADD, including ones that might come from the out-of-date CCHR link, and the work we have done supporting families in coping with ADHD for more than 30 years.

Thanks for all the responses and the valuable information. I had read an article about how different companies/organizations and health experts such as Ross Greene, Russell Barkley, Edward Hallowell, Jerome Schultz, William Dodson etc. profit from this, when children are put on medications.
