MAT meeting and results of testing

I have a MAT meeting next week at my daughter's school to determine her eligibility for an IEP and 504 accommodations. I am happy to have this meeting and the school has been very supportive. I asked the school psychologist when I would get the test results before the meeting and she said they don't normally give the test results before the meeting. I requested that I receive them and she agreed. I find this odd and just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

I work on about 30 teams a year and honestly in is not uncommon to have reports at least 2 weeks early to give to the family. I even have "pre" meeting to discuss services and goals becuase their are often a lot of details to go over and during the IEP the team members don't have a lot of time.

I just want the families to feel supported and listened to.

You have the right to request it. It helps if the notice is given early with plenty of time.

Thank you. I really love the team at her school. I could not have asked for more support, so this just caught me off guard. I'm getting them though so that's good!

An initial meeting to determine eligibility for IEP does not involve having tests administered. Typically the school goes by a diagnosis assigned by a physician, psychiatrist or psychologist. If there is a diagnosis that warrants additional educational support they will agree to conduct an evaluation by the school psychologist in order to make determinations on what services are needed.

We had the initial meeting some time ago. I had her tested and provided those results, now the school has been testing her and we have the meeting next Wednesday to determine her eligibility for an IEP and 504 accommodations. If she is eligible then we begin the process of writing the IEP, goals, etc.
