Hello, I have 3 members in my family that has ADHD. My husband, our 16 yr old daughter who also has Cystic Fibrosis, anxiety and depression among other issues, and last our 6 year old daughter has it. I’m looking for tips to help my daughters grow and cultivate. Learn how to teach them to be more confident and less impulsive and much more!

Your post caught my attention because our son had CF as well. Unfortunately we lost him in 2009 at age 34, but he and his wife were able to have a little boy with the help of IVF - our grandson Andrew, who is 10 now. Andrew was diagnosed at age 4-1/2 with ADHD. So I can relate to many things that you must be going through.

The anxiety and depression were something that our son experienced as well. I always felt that the bronchodilator meds caused him to have problems with focus and attention, although he didn’t have the same behavior issues that our grandson does.

I don’t have any profound advice to give you except that you can never show them too much love. When they feel that the whole world is against them, they should always know that you love them, no matter what. My faith in God and prayer has also been a way for me to handle situations that seem impossible for me to face. We are raising our grandson now because his mother has many problems of her own, including bipolar disorder and addiction to prescription painkillers. She was also diagnosed with ADD when she was a child. I hope that you will receive some help and encouragement from this forum. Feel free to message me any time.

I’m sorry about the loss of your son. I don’t look forward to that day with our daughter :(. I also love that they had a boy and you get to help raise him but sad that his mommy is in that state (your grandson doesn’t deserve to lose both parents) however, given the situation I’m grateful you’re there for him. What a great gift you have given your family.

Thank you for your comment I do love hearing about other CFers and not feeling so alone in all our battles. Likewise if you every want to talk to someone that can relate to a couple things you’ve gone through, feel free to message me anytime!
