CBD oil and ADHD.......want to get off meds, not sure how

Hello all, my 8 yr old was diagnosed with ADHD last year. I actually noticed it first and asked his doctor, we had him tested. We have tried a couple of meds, but taking this stuff everyday, can't be good for him. He's on Focalin RX 10mg, it works but I'm looking for an alternative.....I wanted to try something over summer break. Gummies will probably be easier to make the switch, but how am I suppose to know how much? or who has the best best product? and how many times a day?.......so confused right now....any suggestions or helpful links would be greatly appreciated.

My son was on some meds and they really made him sick and we had to remove him. The school and psychologist put a lot of pressure on us to medicate him but we chose behavior modification techniques and diet changes. The one question all parents have to ask themselves is "are medications causing major academic and social improvement for our child so that certain side effects can be dealt with, like stomach trouble, etc.?" If the answer is "no", then you probably need a second opinion. But please DON'T listen to the teachers. All they care about is making sure your child is not a behavior problem. Best of luck to you and your family.

Hi I’m going through the same thing with the school. They are pressuring me to medicate my 1st grade son. He is a distraction and has poor impulse control but medication is more for the teacher, I’m convinced. Why is it in France they don’t have ADHD? What do they do with the overactive children. I’m under so much pressure by the school faculty to put my child on meds.

I wonder if American diet has something to do with this. Also the schools in Europe are better than they are here. Stand your ground. If I had it to do over again, I would have taken my son to a neurologist to have him evaluated before considering any medications. Yes, the medications are for THEM, not our children. Your child's grades may not go up, or at least not significantly on medication. Best of luck to you and your child.

We are just starting down the road for CBD oil for our ADHD 9 year old. I have a question about it in to her psychologist since our next appointment is close to a month out. She is on guanfacine (0.5mg) and that has been helping. We fought the medication route for about six months or so, but finally gave in because things were getting so bad at school. We chose guanfacine because it was not a stimulant and had good results in kids. It worked for nearly a year and now we are heading down a new road because it is either time to up her dose, or figure out something else as things have taken a turn at school and home. We are hoping that the oil and her medication work together fine and help with this new case of anxiety that she has had come up since losing her classroom helper.

There is a facebook group for CDB oil for people with ADHD, Autism and others that has been helpful for me. I think it has sponsorship or support from a couple of the oil manufacturers, that or the organizer of it is a big supporter of those companies. The parents are helpful and pretty open about experiences. But, I am going to talk to a naturopath and one of our local herbal medicine stores and see what products they recommend.

There is information out there about diet for ADHD kids. I am not mentioning this because I am advertising, but I added a little piece in my book about the pills and diet, etc. that upset the child, because that was a particular source of pain for all of us. It surprised us that doctors, teachers, psychologists, etc. never told us to keep our ADHD son off of sugar. He had maccaroni and cheese and chocolate milk behind our backs at school and no one would help us advise him to get a healthier lunch. If I packed a lunch, as often as not, he lost it. I wonder why diet isn't a larger factor in helping these kids.

Remind me of your book again? I know nutrition serves a big challenge/opportunity to kids with ADHD. We are not the greatest with it since our kiddo is pretty picky. But, she is getting better and we are working on changing all of our diets. But the comment about sugar has me more curious. Thank you!

My grandson's who are on medications mother was on medication all through grade school and high school. She has a master's degree and a very good job in the insurance industry. Another daughter has had to been on anti-depressants off and on and is a cheerleading coach and a great mom. I don't see how these medications affected them adversely for life. They actually help them get through life and be successful.

I know medicating them can be a scary preposition. But do you want your child to do the one who is always in trouble or can't keep up?

Omg I’m so happy to find someone loving le me that want to try CBD oil for my son . I have ADHD and lot of anxiety and I do take cbd and it works wonders for anxiety . My son has been taking Ritalin XR 10 mg but he has gain 10 pounds and grew 3 inches so it’s time to up meds . Doctor want to go to 20 mg ( because there is no 5 mg pill) .... well I cut the pill in half

I don’t know the dosage I could give him but I will definitely try when school is over

I found this doctor in Berkeley specialize with medical marijuana but when I ask if he give pure cbd , the assistant told me that sometimes there is a little bit of thc. He charge 600$ for 4 visits . Maybe worth it . I live in Los Angeles so he m going to find a doctor here and see what he says .

What is the name of the Facebook group for cbd and ADHD please
