Behavioral issues! Arghhh!

Went to karate class with my son today, only his 4th or 5th class. Was fine and dandy before we went, then at class, took his shoes off, chewing his mitts, not paying attention, then at the end off class took his shirt off and smiled very proudly. His teacher is very patient and corrected him several times, but he didn't care or respond. Idk what to do! I can't sit through another class watching him act out, it's giving me major anxiety! Am I doing the right thing by putting off extracurricular activities till we can get some help for his negative behaviors?

Lol! Sounds like you had an very interesting day. Ok bout biting the mutts and taking off of the clothes, but this is going to challenge you like nithing ever has. Your must try to remember as much of his lesson as possible. My Gson earned his yellow belt in about six months life was okay, we wadnt to far behind some if the or her kids he started with. It took him nearly a year to his yellow belt and still some time to earn a orange belt.

If his Sensei' are understanding, try to explain his situation, treat it like you would school. You know the way your son learns best, find a way to gain his attention maybe with rewards of patches or a treat awards. If after a few more classes and you fund that he's not making any great progress then discontinue the classes.

We nearly gave up many times because we thought one of his Sender's didn't lime him because if his ability to focus, he out burst and content talk when he's should be quiet he's often talking

I realize it's not easy watching your child loose at something thats meant to be fun. If yiu stick with it it will be wirth its weight in gold. He will learn to focus more, he will talk less, and learn his craft. When he gets higher rank he will be able to defend himself.

2 -3 days a week and a break him you think he needs a break. Discipline for complex kuds will not come overnight or next week but it will eventually become relation after awhile.

Let me know how it's going!

Thank you so much for your positivity! I chatted with his karate coach and he said hang in there! He is seeing improvement and wants to keep working at it with him :-) So, until my son says that he really doesn't like it... I will try to be positive and encouraging!
