ADHD Medication Trial

Hi all. Our 8 year old was diagnosed last August, and we're trialing medications. Would love some feedback from others about experiences with irritability (seems to be a side effect we're experiencing), and thoughts on ritalin vs adderall (and extended vs. immediate release). Currently he's taking 10 mg 2x per day (morning and lunch), with little positive effect (just irritability and some appetite suppression). Thanks for any insight! Learning to navigate all of this!!

Stimulants didn’t help my son (they made him more all over the place), but it sounds like they might not be the solution for your son either. Have you tried both? I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist and a psychologist to help determine the best course of action for him. Unfortunately people can only give you their personal experience, which might not be your son’s experience. My so has anxiety in addition to ADHD and mild autism, so we’ve been trying to deal with one issue at a time. Good luck.
