I’m really concerned about my daughter. After doing an assessment I really think she has ADHD. I recently quit my job to try and focus more on her issues at home and at school. It’s also causing problems between me and my fiancé. Any advice is gladly appreciated. Thanks

I feel your pain. You are not alone here! Having a child with ADHD causes a lot of chaos and stress in the home. It can really affect the family dynamics. I think that is great you are able to quit your job to focus on your daughter. One thing I can tell you for sure is that it is not your fault! Many parents tend to blame themselves for their child's issues. Don't blame yourself!! Hopefully your fiance is supportive of you and your relationship with your daughter. Children with ADHD can cause havoc on the family. I have a 14 year old son who has ODD and ADHD. It is very hard. I am a single parent who shares 50/50 custody with his father. I would suggest trying to catch it as early as possible and do as much research as you can. Also, finding a psychologist might be helpful too. It's a great place to talk about the struggles and get suggestions on how to raise your daughter effectively. If you are able to, you could try a holistic approach by changing her diet, cutting out things that may be contributing to her behaviors. I wish I would have known back then what I know now. I feel like I could have done so many things differently back then that may have changed where we are today. But of course, I can't turn back time so I have to deal with what's in front of me right now. Show your daughter love and stay calm! Sometimes staying calm is not easy, I know. Good luck!

Thanks for your advice. My girls have been through a lot. I half full custody of my kids and their mom has mental health issues. It also doesn’t help that my fiancé has mental health issues also, with that being said my household is mostly a disaster but we keep praying for better days. It’s a lot on everyone. I will try to figure out how changing her diet works.

God Bless you and your family

How old is she. Get her diagnosed if possible you can get her a 504 plan or iep for school if she is diagnosed which can give her accommodations and help she may need at school

Thank you. I’ve never heard of either plan and will definitely do some research. She is 5 going on 6 and smart as can be when it comes to her school work but little things will kinda change her mood then it ends up being a bad day. I currently have her teacher working with me to help figure it out
