the method of puffing the devices does not replicate actual usage. the method uses aerosol gathered through small tubes in which airflow is restricted leading to the coil getting much hotter than normal, which will obviously affect this test. obviously, no one conducting this study understood this or a measurement of airflow would've been collected with device settings and the puffing apparatus would've been calibrated to create the same airflow. also of note, the device settings were not correlated with the findings in each sample, which would reveal any flaws as well. say for instance, if samples from a hotter device showed less of the tested metals present.
