I saw your post where you mentioned your son has been doing neurofeedback back for a year. Could you please share the results. Does your child still need to be on medication for ADHD? Did his attention and hyperness improve? Was the treatment worth the cost for your family? Thank you so much for your imput. My son is 6. Diagnosed with ADHD and high functioning ASD.

My son tried neurofeedback when he was in 2nd grade. Unfortunately it did not work. The way it worked was I had to pay for 20 sessions and if there was no noticeable changes they gave you another 20 sessions for free. By the 38th session we all determined he seemed to be getting more aggressive and it wasn't working for him. My advice is if it is covered by insurance give it a try if not just remember it doesn't work for everyone. Good luck.

My 8 yr old son is currently doing neurofeedback. He is diagnosed with ADHD. Academically he does well but his behavior in school is not good at all. He has trouble staying focused, doing his work and staying in his seat. We prefer not to medicate and are trying alternatives. He has an IEP and attends therapy in addition to the neurofeedback. He likes to go. It’s non-invasive, which I’m comfortable with. He watches a Netflix movie for about 30mins. There is a reward tone when his brain waves stay focused. We’re still in the early stages. When he started they did a brain mapping as a baseline. After he completes about 12 sessions they will do another one for comparison. We’re anxious to see if there has been any change. It is expensive but if it helps him some it would be worth every penny! I’ll keep you updated on the progress.

Hopeful
