I need help
HI,
I would reach out to the guidance counselor first. See what types of help they can offer at school. Also, is he failing because he isn't doing the work or is it too difficult for him. My son did well in school with ADHD until he got to the point where he had to study and didn't know how.
Right now my son who is in 9th grade is working on getting the work done, turning it in and doing it to the best he can. Sometime he still forgets to turn things in but his 504 says he can turn in late. Make sure you talk to the guidance counselor about a 504 if he doesn't have one - if he has ADHD he can have one, just request it.
Good luck, you will get through this.
Deb
Does he have a 504 plan at school? He might need extra help and a 504 plan is something that can help. You may want to ask a school administrator for an assessment.
You are a great mother and your son is a gift! However I have had many days where I feel like a failure my son soon to be 8 has been so difficult from day 1. Do you have access to any help or counsellors at school?
