Took child off ADHD meds

Hi Everyone, I am new here too. My granddaughter was diagnosed with ADHD at 4 years of age. She has been taking meds since then, she is now 14. She took many of the ones mentioned on here. Just this past week she has been diagnosed with a heart murmur. I decided to research all these meds and I was shocked at what I learned. All of the meds she has taken are on a list for long term side affects on the heart. I have taken her off all ADHD meds. We will try to do this without them. She does not have violent problems but does have problems staying focused. Her brother had ADHD also and did have violent tendencies, he had a rough time his mother would not keep him on meds. He is twenty six now and doing pretty good. My husband and I have custody of our granddaughter and we thought we were doing the right thing keeping her on meds. Now I am not so sure. What I would say to all is research the meds your child is taking. Go to Google and type in the name of the meds and read everything you can about them. Then you should have enough information to make a decision that is best for your child. My child will never take them again. Good Luck to you all.
