My child is 6 diagnosed by ADHD at 3 and half. Now he is going through an occupational therapy and resperidon 0.5mg per day. But there is no improvement in it. Lack of attention and misbehaviour can be seen. For example when he gets aggressive he starts to bang his head and spits. What can I do to make him focus and pay attention to what we are saying.

Behaviour
I recommend behavioral therapy which might include Applied Behavioral Analysis. Behaviors are a symptom of ADHD but the triggers need to be identified in order to extinguish, modify or manage them.
My grandson is on risperidone and it helps with the anger but it doesn't help that the ADHD. He is on both Strattera and Trileptal and doing really well
My son was on respirdone and it worked just ok. Now he is on Lamictal and it works really well
I would suggest counseling and also praise often for positive behavior. We do point system and daily rewards
I agree with getting cognitive behavioural therapy- my son stated at 3. He has had it on and off ever since. He’s doing equine therapy now (age 8). That’s been amazing, so keep that in mind as he gets older. Also make sure he’s on a clean ADHD friendly diet (high protein, low sugar, no food dyes, limit artificials), a good Fish oil supplement and have him checked for any deficiencies- those can lead to behavior issues as well... especially with focus (ex: low B12 or D).
Good luck! It will be a long hard journey- but I promise it’s worth it!
Mu grandson has been on risperidone for probably 5 years. Every time we try to take him off his aggression gets so bad and we put him back on.
