My son is 10 and he jerks his head forward and opens his mouth and almost pops his jaws. He does this during the day but I've never observed him doing this while he sleeps. The doctor said they are nervous tics but I am worried other kids will make fun of him. What has your pediatrician said about the twitching at bedtime?
Hi there! Is she on medication? When my son was on the wrong dose, he would twitch, kick, make sucking sounds and kiss inanimate objects ALL the time. When it was adjusted, most of the side effects went away, but he is in Adderall and it ruins sleep. Melatonin is a massive help to aid a restful sleep for my son. Talk with your daughter's pediatrician and ask for their opinion on sleep aides and such. Good luck.
Medication can cause tics. My grandson developed a terrible tic on Depakote. We had to stop it immediatly. Is this new?
ADHD kids are also known to have sleep disorders. Those can cause Restless sleep
Thank you all for responding! My child is not taking any medication. Her Ped wanted to rule out seizure and had her go thru short EEG but came back normal. I went to a neurologist and he ordered a 24 hours home Video EGG ... hopefully that will tell us what is going on.
