Forgotten Apixaban

Good Morning,

I am in rather an anxious state today and thought I’d taken my Apixaban this morning. I found a tablet on the floor so I think I dropped it.

I take two Apixaban a day so is it ok not to take one?

Hi Maria, thinking back to a conversation when I was first put on Apixaban, I recall them telling me i could take the tablet up to 6 hours after my usual time, if I had forgotten to take the tablet. If I missed that 6 hour window, I’d have to wait until the usual time in the evening. Hope that helps, obviously I’m not a medical professional so might be worth checking with your doctor or pharmacy. There might be some advice on the leaflet inside the Apixaban box too.

Thank you for replying CH11. I spoke to my GP and he said it was on to miss one tablet.

I had similar advice. Although what they said to me, was if you forget to take a tablet and then decide to take it, make sure you don't take another for 6 hours.

If you forget to take the odd tablet once in a while. it doesn't make much difference as the medicine has built up in your system.

Realize it is really too late to answer your question. Sorry I missed your email. I sometimes miss mine, but never worry about it. Mainly due to the fact that if one has to have an operation one sometimes has to stop taking them for a few days - therefore, I reason that missing one is not a problem.
