Can I fly after my DVT and PE in December?I would like to go away at the end of April, not a long haul flight.

I read it was ok to do so.

As far as I know you should be OK but if you're unsure of anything have a chat with your gp and ask them if it's OK to fly. If you're unsure about anything then ask your gp and they can help you.

As my Aunty Coag nurse said: "as long as you take your warfarin, then you'll be the safest person on the plane coz you won't get another clot."

That's true enough! Thats what I think when I travel that because I'm on rivaroxaban then I am one of the safest people on that type of transport.

My consultant said I was safe to fly long haul as on Warfarin despite having had DVT and PE. He said everyone on plane was at risk, even me but as on Warfarin my risk was no greater than anyone else. Life is for living

I just returned from my first flight since multiple PE diagnosis 9 months ago. I chose a short Middle East flight, just 6 hours each way. I really wanted some proper sun after the awful winter here in UK.

I felt no effects at all. I'm taking Apixaban and bought some compression socks. It feels a good step forward and I now know that I am not confined to UK ! Plus the weather was lovely which helped my current low mood.

I hope this helps reassure you.

Thats nice news to hear that you are making great progress forward.

I am finding that time helps me with things after I had my pe back in December and I am progressing well and recently had a day out of town my first since I was taken ill and this weekend I am going away for the weekend first time after I was taken ill which I am looking forward to.

It's taking small steps forward that make a big difference and I have nearly lost 2 stone since December as I used the event as an opportunity to make some positive lifestyle changes.
