I was diagnosed last May with multiple PE totally out of the blue. Fingers crossed I'm pleased to say that I have made a strong recovery so far. I'm not as physically capable as I was but I am now back to full time work and I even visited the gym first time!
I have been taken off Apixaban and take aspirin instead. I had two painful experiences of gout after 6 months on Apixaban. Now I have stopped taking it I feel fine. Has anyone else had similar problems ?

I'm in a similar boat.
Multiple PE out of the blue - I'm young, healthy, very fit, non-smoker. I've also had some genetic testing done previously and, as far as I can tell, have none of the common mutations.
I've a follow-up with a consultant soon, so I'll see what they say.
Anyway, I'm also on apixaban for about 3 months now.
Like you, out of seemingly nowhere, I get a serious joint pain with mild redness and swelling in one elbow. I'm unable to bend it more than 90 degrees without serious pain.
The doctor has initially diagnosed it as bursitis, but it's very strange.
Prior to the PE, my health has been fantastic and I rarely get ill.

UPDATE: I just spoke with the (VT/PE/clot) outpatient clinic and they said it's almost certainly unrelated to Apixaban (in my case). They suggested that soreness in ALL joints would be a more likely side effect, rather than extreme soreness in ONE.
