Lots of steps every day

I've always been a walker (thank God) and it's always been my way of walking off frustration/anger/embarrassment etc. I always walked as fast as I could to school - the shame if anyone overtook me! I would power back home after a bad day at university, just walking off my anger. And I always explored new places on foot. Fortunately my husband loves doing this aswell, although he doesn't have my urge to run/get away when I'm emotional.

These last couple of weeks I haven't been able to run due to a bad knee. Pure frustration. But as long as no stairs are involved I can still walk. So I have been hammering my frustration out with my feet. It helps keep me sane, puts things into perspective and on a number of occasions I have come back very happy, pleased with the world and delighted at the countryside at my front door. 20,000 steps a day I'm doing on average. Some of them powered by negative feelings, some by determination to keep this knee moving and ensure all the nutrients it needs to heal are being supplied as often as possible. Walking has kept me sane. And my knee is getting better.

Walking is fantastic therapy! Well done to all of you for getting out there. I pop in here now and then and am in awe of all your achievements.

Hi JaySeeSkinny. I didn't know about your knee problems. Is it bursitis? What a pain. I hope it's a swift recovery for you, and I'm glad you can still motor around while walking.

You rack up some seriously impressive steps there.

No idea what it is. According to Dr. Google it's probably "runner's knee" which can be cured by strength exercises. Hence first attempt at Rignold's squats today.

For what it's worth back in my late 20's I had a really painful knee that kept me awake at night. The Dr would offer me nothing more than cream to rub in which did nothing. In the end I paid to see an Osteopath. It was a revelation! I had two visits and they gently manipulated all my limbs and lo my knee pain totally disappeared never to return. Amazing!

Just food for thought. x
