I have peripheral neuropathy in my neck and right shoulder blade and Pregabalin is the only one to help with the nerve pain but it gives me vision problems and balance problems so I keep lowering the dosage but the pain is so bad when I do that I up it again what I’m wondering is do the side effects ease of the longer your taking it as at the moment I only take the higher dose for about4 days and then lower it again but I’d stay on the higher dose which is only 150 mg over 24 hrs if I thought the side effects would lesson thanks for any replies keep safe

Hi Kingsley what type of pain do you get ? Is it like a burning pain or electric shock pain ? Have you tried alpha lipid acid ?

Hi balance problems tend to disappear but the vision problems you should report. I had vision problems on gabapentin and was switched immediately to pregabalin

I keep trying to get off by myself because I’d tried every other drug for neuropathic nerve pain but am worried about what I can use as my dr has said to me she feels I’m out their on my own as there is nothing else she can offer me I did speak to one dr who said try to keep it at the lowest dosage I can and it should help my vision problems but thanks for your answer

Sorry about that, we spoke before a couple of times and you seem to be bothered by this for some time now. Problem is there are only a few good drugs for neuropathic pain. Just hope you can balance it.

Hi Emma your right I have been bothered for a long time I think it’s beca I know I really need to get off because of the vision and balance problems but I know the only thing they can offer me is co codamol which I already use once a day at night but would have to up how many times I took it a day and am worried about how I’d cope with only co codamol one of the reasons they have a problem with giving me other drugs for my nerve pain is that I Haaretz Afib a heart problem I was on amitriptyline for years and it helped but it started the Afib so had to come off but thanks for the talk keep safe

Like a nightmare really, know what you go through as my pain is just never ending. Pregabalin takes the edge of it for me. Just keep battling it and hopefully it will settle eventually. Take care.
