Knee pain

I have had bad knee pain since December 2016 and haven't been able to work since then. I have had tried physiotherapy and recently had a cortisone injection which did not work. The pain i'm getting is I can't sit upright for a long period of time without causing severe pain. I have been told by orthopaedic triage that I have chondromalacia patellae and after having a MRI scan in February 2017 which didn't show up anything they have basically told me that there is nothing orthopaedic triage can offer me. I have rheumatoid arthritis too and my next appointment isn't til January at rheumatology.

Does anyone else have chondromalacia patellae or have any advice please ?

Thanks

Have you tried putting a pillow under your knee to support it when sitting upright. I have to do this when I have my legs up in bed. I don't have your condition in knee but I do have Osteochondritis dissecans in my knee. This is where the cartiledge has been strained and died ( I think) and where the bone has died on the Pattella ( I think) and bits of bone have broken off and are in the synovial fluid . Sorry I'm not sure of all the details ( was a few years ago) but only mentioning it because , you might find Traditional Chinese Style Acupuncture helpful. As I have with my knee condition. I still get aches with the back of it and have to be careful but it has helped enormously.

Hi Rosepetal60

Thanks for you comment.

I have found that I have sit in my recliner chair with a pillow under my bad knee as it eases the pain if I don't and my knee is straight it causes pain.

Thanks for the Acupuncture idea. I don't think that will suit me as I tried acupuncture 2 yrs ago in my shoulder when we had a slight car accident and the physiotherapist had to take the needles out after 2 minutes as I come over feeling sick and dizzy. On that basis I'm a bit worried about giving it another go.

Thanks

Karen

That dry needling that you mention and I have also had is totally different to the Trad Chinese type but I understand your concerns as I have had a bad experience with a negligent Acupuncturist about 18 years ago. It can be difficult to find a suitably qualified and experienced Acupuncturist. I tried 4 before I found one with advanced qualifications who could help. Wonder if Reiki might help. I don't know much about it but maybe worth looking into.
