Thank you for all your replies to my first post about bereavement, and the loss of so many of my family. I decided to go to the Doctor , and they have put me on busporine and Efexor XL . I can't see any difference yet but I will stick it out and hope for the best thanks again

Hi Stewart30

I'm pleased you went to the Doctor, the medication will take a while to kick in and for you to notice the difference, so don't be tempted to stop taking them. In the meantime, you have us to for support, please remember that and take care of yourself.

Stewart, Please give cruse bereavement a try. You can find all about them online just type in the name and have a look at what they offer. There is a national helpline, meetings online, one on one support, group meetings in all regions, basically something for everyone. They really are a great charity, some people end up becoming volunteers and find sharing their stories helps both themselves and others. You need to talk, pills will only block the issue ( in my opinion ) which will still be there eating away at you inside.. I,m surprised the Doctor didn,t recommend that approach first instead of sending you off out the door with medication. Well, I,m not really surprised!. Best wishes, take care. x

Welcome to our Forum badger4218

Suggesting Cruse and Bereavement Counselling is certainly helpful to Stewart but we never suggest our members ignore their Doctors advice or give personal views of our own experiences of our Doctors.

Thank you Chloe, sorry if I gave that impression which was not my intention. I did not mean for anyone to ignore doctors advice rather perhaps to try the none medication route first, having been on antidepressants myself for years after the loss of family. I apologise if my comment was ill thought out and badly worded. . Hope you are well, take care. x

Your comment wasn't badly worded and it didn't sound harsh. I take it you have been through a lot yourself.? Therefore you are talking through personal experiences which is greatly appreciated..

Hi I guess I never thought of it that way, but in all fairness to the doctor she has suggested Counciling on numerous occasions . Like Combat stress, and Cruise but it was me who didn't take her advice. But thanks for the advice, I honestly don't think I am the type to sit and talk to someone who hasn't seen the. Destruction and horror that war brings. Or lose you best friend, brother and Idol all in one horrible night .. I don't mean to sound negative but when Tom died part of me died.. it's really hard to explain.
