do we have to register for a gp to get treated for depression or is there any walk in services for it. thanks a lot.

walk in centres are for treatment of minor ailments . This would not normally include mental health problems. Your GP is normally the person to see or else self treatment using books and internet information and sites nhs.uk/NHSEngland/AboutNHSs...

You need to have a GP in the UK, to set up your Pathway for treatment. That will include scripts and CBT

If you went to a hospital directly, you can get acute emergency treatment, you will need to inform the hospital your GP eventually because you would need medications and you would need to pay for them if your Country has no Health Agreements with the Uk. Sometimes when you get back home your Health Service would refund the money you have spent None Nationals cannot expect treatment if they have not contributed to the UK System. Mental Health can be very expensive to treat over the long term. It can be a Chronic Condition.
