I have a few problems

Hello again! For years ive been struggling with low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and low self image. Its because of the sexual and emotional abuse ive been through. I am out of those situations now, but the emotional scars are still in my heart. I know that time can heal wounds, but i need to take action here. What can i do to feel better about myself?

  • Talk to someone. (I'm here if you need to talk) Look in the mirror and say all the good things about yourself. 😁

  • Thank you :) i will do that.

  • Hi there

Not sure where your nearest woodland or natural beauty spot is? when it is a nice crisp day wrap up warm, fill a thermos with a luxury hot chocolate, take something to sit on, pocket a small bar of green and blacks 70percent dark and head for a walk. When you get to a nice view point with a seat, stop enjoy the chocolate and just be there in the moment. Notice the colour and shape of the falling leaves, the sounds of the different birds, the sweet and earthy fragrance of the woodland, and just be.

Obviously not the whole answer, but one to put in the toolkit.

I am going to be taking my own advice on the weekend.

    Cheers, Matt

  • Good! I hope youll enjoy yourself. I live at a college and there is a garden of remembrance and it is so beautiful. I will definitely pay a visit and bring my favorite book. Thank you for the idea :)

  • Woods I enjoy. Trees I hug, but hot chocolate that I hadn't thought of. Good one.

  • Agree with Matt, nature makes me feel great as well. Id also recommend doing yoga as that has helped my self esteem and self confidence as well.

  • Thank you for your suggestion :)

  • You must leave the past behind. That is where it belongs. Stop carrying it around with you. Mindfulness for the present

It sounds like your life is much improved now so you want to build on this and move forwards to a different place

  • Thank you.

  • Everyone needs a fix of this sometimes.

  • How's your wardrobe? Do you dress to make yourself feel good? Do you wear colour? Or a favourite pair of shoes? Or a treasured piece of jewelry?

Do you wear make up that accentuates your favourite parts of your face-remembering the rule that you should only draw attention to one feature. So if you have lovely eyes, you make them up the most and go with clear gloss, or if you have lovely lips you wear a gorgeous colour?

Do you smile at people when you walk past? Give compliments when you are at the til or amongst friends?

Roald Dahl said “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

If you build a foundation of self esteem on making yourself feel good, it will be apparent. If you avoid wearing blacks and greys to make yourself blend in, people will see you.

    I hope this was helpful.

  • I have a sporty dress style if you know what i mean which fits my personality because i love sports. I put some effort into my style, but i dont pride myself in it. I have make-up, but havent used any of it so i will change that. I also make sure to get my hair done every five weeks. I get my nails done too, but only when i have the money. I smile at people, but ive been told that i sometimes look unapproachable. I know i should change that, but i also dont want people to think they can mess with me. They probably say this because im kind of reserved and look a bit angry when im not smiling at anyone.
