Tired of going thru this every year

I am 65 years old and recently retired. I have been dealing with depression for the last 15 years. I have tried to commit suicide twice. I am on meds but depression comes back every year. I am to the point where I feel that I can't deal with this anymore.

Hi I'm sorry you have not had a reply yet, the site can be quiet sometimes and i'm sure others will be in tomorrow. Does the winter make your depression worse? If so you might be suffering from SADS (seasonally affected disorder).

Hi jjca,

Have you considered or tried talking to a therapist? Do you know the root of your depression? Sometimes without knowing the root, there is a delay In recovery... we are all here going thru some of the same things as one another, we are all each other's support system away from those we feel don't quite understand us.. You should know that we are all here whenever you need or want to talk. Feel free to message anytime! 😊

Here's to recovery!! 🙌🏽🤗😊

Hi, your post is really sad, I know you can't just wipe away depression. I know sometimes it feels worse than others and at times it seems to have almost gone🙏🏻 the feeling of not wanting to be here anymore is one of total despair. But you posted on here so to me that's a good sign!! It's an uphill struggle all the time but you must have some good things in your life. Somethings that make you smile some times😀 I don't know your story of course. What I do know is we all have the strength within us to fight it, and yes it's a case of really digging deep to find it sometimes.you must be getting help for your illness but is there any more support you could get? I nearly lost my life myself recently. It put a lot of things into perspective. No one has a life that is a 100 percent happy, there's always struggled, drama, trauma!! But life is good sometimes. I love a good laugh, I'm lucky that my partner has the best sense of humour.its good to spend time around happy , optimistic people if you can.everyday I look for the positive!! I try to change what I'm not happy with, but I have to accept that somethings I can't change but do the best I can with it. I hope this sadness lifts away from you soon.we all have happy times waiting for us!! We've just got to find them. X

Hi is it possible you have SAD? It's worth trying a SAD lamp, I have SAD and the lamps really help.

Look forward to hearing how you get on
