This week wasn't so bad. I was able to get up every morning at around the same time, but falling asleep still remains a struggle. I followed my schedule and went to the gym a few times even when I didn't feel like it. And now I feel better physically and don't feel the need to lie down all the time, which I am sooo grateful for. I'm doing my best to have 3 meals a day. And I've been jotting down 3 things I'm grateful for everyday, which I think may have improved my mood.

  • Nice to hear the last week has been going well and hope things keep going from strength to strength, just don't worry if you get the odd bad day.

I have been having problems with sleep and I have found that putting the radio on very very quietly can be very helpful, or you could try putting some of your favourite music on a play list on a loop, probably best not to choose heavy metal or energizing tracts for this, listening to something relaxing can just be the trick to distract your thoughts from worrying about why its taking so long to fall asleep.

  • Hi

I really hope this works for you. I know I found it really helpful.

  • 3 ideas that may help.

Don't eat within 3 hours of going to bed.

Don't drink within 2 hours of going to bed.

Sleep on your left hand side

  • Kainan, you seem to be doing many of the right things . Everyone has at least 3 things to be grateful for every day. That to my mind is a much healthier way of thinking than concentrating on things you lack compared with some luckier people. A hot drink (not tea or coffee) before bed might also help as the body likes to shut down when digesting something and a hot night time drink is unlikely to keep you awake with indigestion.

When "normal" we can all break the rules a bit but if depressed or anxious you need everything going for you and regular healthy eating, exercise ,and regular sleep habits all help with depression or anxiety. If you can lose yourself for a half hour in a good book before sleeping that I found gave my mind a short "holiday" from worries and helped me drop off to sleep .
