Depression, involuntary shaking, leaden paralysis.

I've suffered from depression on and off for about 20 years but the last 2 years have been the worse resulting in being hospitalised a while ago. I'm taking 450mg Effexor XR along with anti psychotics and meds for anxiety but I just don't seem to get a sustained period of feeling well. I'll be okay for 2 - 3 weeks but then drop again for a few months.

The one thing I can't seem to get relief from is uncontrollable shaking this seems to be worse if I'm stressed. It's like electric shocks in my muscles. This is usually followed by a bout of extreme tiredness where my limbs feel like lead. I can't stand up and my speech becomes slurred but I'm fully aware of all this I don't feel like I'm fainting. My psychiatrist doesn't seem to know what this is and I've seen a neurologist and he couldn't find anything wrong. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

Thanks.

Hi there and no I can't help you with this, I suppose if GP or Neurologist can't help,

It's where to go next. Apart from a second opinion.

It seems quiet here today, but I suppose it's a Depression Support site rather than

Medical. Hopefully someone will be online later.

Please take care and hope you get help with this soon. It's horrible to feel stuck

With something like this.

Hey if it helps I shake a lot to my whole body! It's so scary 😁 X

Hello

I suffer a chronic pain condition and I need to take Opiates.

Could it be something more than depression, I do not say it is although your GP should see and make sure all is ok, although I understand you have seen a neurologist it could be stress so you need to comforted and your mind put at rest

My condition affects the nerves and joints, it is not connected to mental illness

Talk to your GP again, They may feel it is caused by anxiety, you need some form of confirmation regarding this
