Widening Inequality Is Good...

...and other lies we're told. Equality—not Xanax—is always going to heal anything and give the body what it truly needs to function better. LGBT equality helps reduce anxiety and depression in those communities. And it's only a fraction of the story. Having the same status, rights and opportunities with all our brothers and sisters—the society—is the most important endeavor by humankind.

EQUALITY IS A DEPRESSION TREATMENT DEVICE. It supports a kinder, gentler, more stable environment for everyone. For your parents, for your siblings, for your daughters and sons—everyone!

Addendum: Yes, positions in society and rewards reflect differences in effort and ability, based on fair competition, for example, I'm excellent at school, I get good grades and become a medical doctor earning 100K per year vs. I was afflicted with cerebral palsy—have poor coordination, stiff muscles, trouble speaking and tremors and earn $8,400 per year (disability income). There are many degrees of ability in humans.

Hi there, sometimes I feel you have a very negative view of life

In general. I feel we are all equal, there will always be some inequality, Rich people and poorer people. Clever people and not so clever, hardworking people and

People who have no work ethic. Fanatics and moderates. Life is unequal

And it always will be, it's a fact. From the beginning of time, societies. Strive to

Be better than other tribes.

I think if you always concentrate on the glass half empty, then it's a very depressing

Way of life. Why not be positive, be glad that your alive and living in a first world

Country, not starving or in a war torn country.

Hannah, I'm surprised at your reply. "Life is unequal

and it always will be" is a tad negative. Equality is a noble goal—and a slow on-going process. It's worth fighting for.

Of course I want everyone to be equal, here in Ireland there is

Equality for LGBT community now.

What I meant was that society will really always be unequal

Because we are all so different. How can you say there is equality,

When some people are starving, some are ill and some are healthy.

So sorry but I believe that People will never be equal, it's naiveTo think we are all equal because we are not. Oh it's a noble thought but

Since man first set foot on the planet there has been inequality.

It's a fact of life, that's my view. Interesting to see what others

Think.

Thanks, Hannah. I always love your input and appreciate different points of view. I'm doing good today. Over the weekend I was a little down... But more chipper today.

Weekends can be hard, my worst time is Sunday, I always

Seem to mope around feeling blue, ah well I suppose I can't complain, I am reasonable and that's great.

Richard I always like your fresh posts to liven us up.

Thank you, Hannah! That's my intention! And I love how you keep me on my toes! ;) I totally understand there are differences in effort and ability—but even those that sleep all day—and contribute little—perhaps something in their growing up—caused them to have very little interest and motivation... To give up on life. Maybe those people have extreme guilt and self-loathing...

Of course we should all be equal but the nature of life is unequal,

Otherwise why all the poverty and wars and stuff. That's all, look at History, read the paper and see inequality everywhere every day.

Me I'm all for equality, but I'm a realist.

And that's good, Dan9878. In the U.S., where I live, in 1776, congress signed the Declaration of Independence that declares, "All men are created equal." Making this statement a reality has been an EXTREMELY difficult undertaking—for example—slavery was abolished by Congress with the 13th Amendment in 1865.

How about women Richard? Is 'all men' just men or generic man? What are your views on women being equal? Do you believe in 'anatomy is destiny' etc. Bev x

Bev, You bring up a good point! The culture advertises that men have more value than women. I believe it's unfair. Thankfully, the inequality has been changing a lot on this front. Progress (and equality) take time.

Fundamentally we are all different. Inequalities can sometimes be altered but diversity is what makes the human condition.

For the moment of conception those differences start to be laid down and continue throughout life. We can do very little about it. Some inequalities are material and some are down to the attitudes of all the other humans.

All men are only created equal if you believe in a creator.

Having said all that I'm a great believer in fighting for change.

I have to remember that when yet another request for a donation comes from a charity fighting inequality. I have the 3 main ones that I've picked out to help regularly. I have to just hope someone else is helping all the others.

There is always someone more unequal than me.
