Hi Lucy yes I'm OK getting there slowly but surely I've heard about this kindle thing but don't read many books as a rule anyway hope you are ok from Duncan

Hi duncan that sounds like a very good book. Trouble with me is though I find it very hard to concentrate and take things in with depression (and old age) so I probably wouldn't be able to understand it enough to make a difference. If it works for you and others though then that is a good thing. x

Thanks Duncan, I will look for this book.

For those of us who like a simple read but very powerful I recommend a book called 'Black Dog' by Michael Johnston.

Has anybody else got any books they would like to recommend.

Yes I always recommend Depressive Illness: The Curse of the Strong

Chris Cantopher as a general book for someone trying to understand their depression.

I'll second this one, it's a great book for not making you feel as bad about yourself.

If that doesn't make sense please let me know cos my sentence construction isn't up to scratch at the moment due to stress.

The best book for me has been the actual Bible! Someone has helped me to understand it- it explains why we are suffering, why God allows suffering right now, and a real hope for the future- it has given me a much better perspective on life, and when I am feeling really bleak, i know all this is temporary, and that God will help me endure and keep going, together with good friends that I can rely on xxx
