I'm educated, sociable etc. But when it comes to work (retail work), I can't seem to stay focused, I get bored with the task, then when I get bored I lose interest in the task and consequently do a rather bad job of it. Someone tells me off, I feel bad, process repeats itself. I'm also working two jobs clocking up to a total of 48hrs a week (8hrs of which is voluntary) and am starting to feel more and more frustrated and upset with myself that I can't do my jobs properly.

My own bad performance and inconsistencies are starting to upset and concern myself as well as my employers.

I honestly don't know what to do and feel as if I'm being crushed...

Difficult.

Have you seen your GP at all.

One theory about depression is that it's still around because its a way of making transitions from one direction that isn't right for us to another that is right. If you had the choice what would you be doing? would it be something related to your voluntary work?

Could it be worth considering dropping the voluntary work, to give you a bit of breathing space? I'm guessing that would be a shame though, asthe things we choose to do are usually the things that keep us out of the depths of depression!

Hi there Care Bear maybe you want to get fired. If you know your doing a

Bad job. Why do you keep doing this self destructive behaviour. Most people

Are told off and step up to the plate.

Are you tired? 48 hours seems a lot. Would you consider looking for a more

Suitable new job for yourself? But if you keep getting into trouble with this

One you won't get a good reference.

I have to say that I cannot understand your way of going on. You are the only

One who can change the situation .!

Hello

Problems can start if you are tired, you make errors, then you get upset, you make more errors so what happens then your problems escalate. Your boss gets fed up, plays hell and gets picky, and now plays war even more You now become self conscience and make more mistakes so the whole thing goes around and round. So if you are doing two jobs you must be feeling tired especially with the voluntary work are undertaking.

Depending what you are doing voluntary you may find if the hours are high, 48 hours, you are not resting so you end up doing to much work and you are not getting the time to relax and fulfil both jobs of work.

Sadly it feels you may have to reduce the voluntary work or you may loose the position that is making your money to buy the bread on your table.

You need self time, it is no good working longer hours, 48 hours is ten hours over the standard week, If not careful you will most probably loose both positions as you have been unable to fulfil your contract, both jobs will begin too suffer

All the best

BOB

Hi,

I know the job market is difficult at the moment but you seem to be working long hrs in a job you hate.

If you don't want to give up yr voluntary work is it possible/ viable to reduce the hrs you work in your paid job? Hopefully that would create some breathing space and you could sort out what you really want and maybe start applying for a new job elsewhere.

Best Wishes,

Lizard.

Or you are bored because its time to move on, maybe take a temporary work to keep your interest. maybe your too intelligent for what your doing, and thats why you cant concentrate for long. Im the same. Maybe think of working for yourself your own business. Its all possible. take care

Try coconut oil and magnascent iodine my friend.

We go into self-destruct mode for a reason. A part of you is desperatly trying to tell you something. Take the time to look at the whole of your life. What changes might feel good or would work out?

you mention some voluntary work, is there the opportunity to find a paid role there, as if you are spending time there.... it must be important to you.....;

Your reaction is quite normal to a situation that is not right for you..

Take time to explore your options so that it not a case of out of the frying pan........

A massive thanks to everyone who gave me advice. It really helped. :)

Essentially what I did was quit my voluntary work (which ironically was in the mental health field). My line manager was supportive of my decision and hopefully this should give me some breathing room during the week to release some stress. Might join the gym or something...

Anyway thanks everyone.
