I also cycle and play badminton occasionally five a side football. It helps me sleep but I can still feel horrible and down after exercise. But usually just ok.

I walk most mornings and love it. When I first started I was terrified of meeting anyone so always crossed the road. But now I am happy to greet people with a cheery good morning. Walking has helped me so much.

I'm disabled so can't go for a walk etc. I do use mindfulness to help the insomnia.

In oxford we used to have a card that would allow us to go swimming ice skating and go to the gym, and didnt have to pay parking. It really did help me to cope, as I put negative energy and put it into positive by exercising. That is how I managed to keep off antidepressants I think for so long. It helped me stay fit, calm, with a very stressful life.

They should do it for everyone with depression, also for the kids too. To keep them occupied which keeps them calm too.

I walk for at least 3 hours every day , but after five years i still don't like meeting people , it helps on very dark days but does not make things any better

I find that Jogging on a treadmill every day for 30 minutes keeps me strong mentally as well as physically.

I ride my bike every day somedays about 20 miles others only about 5. I have just started running and I can run about 5k at the moment. When my shoulder has healed I'll be back to swimming and trying to do a triathlon.

I can only do a little exercise do to physical problems and have found that lack of regular moderate exercise greatly increased my ability to cope .

I run and cycle too. I was in and out of hospital between September and the end of November when I had my operation... then I had 6 weeks post op recovery when I couldn't train and I found this period of inactivity drastically affected my mood. I'm still trying to haul myself out of my black hole but I WILL get there.... eventually...

I like walking, but I do swim occasionally. I find both are compatible with meditation. probably the thing that works best for me is motorbiking, pretty much daily

I exercised and ate well my entire life. I also do yoga regularly. But none of that stopped the big black fog. Only Zoloft cleared up the fog, after many years of resisting I finally gave it a go and will never turn back. Maybe not for everyone, but a lifetime of healthy eating and exercising did absolutely nothing to lift the symptoms. And I would like a new word for it...depression is an awful word. It is a chemical imbalance in my case, helped along by a childhood of challenges the average person doesn't have in their lives. I researched emotional deprivation recently and that has opened my eyes quite a bit as to why I am the way I am. Conrad Baars' writings describe it perfectly and it is a deep and almost impossible to overcome condition. But Zoloft got me out of bed and I am forever grateful to the psych doc who convinced me to give it a try.

I tend to get very restless or very lethargic and low . I always feel so much better after a walk . The more I walk the more addictive it gets (like cycling with my brother) . Walking also helps with my sleep problems and clear mental cobwebs . I wish I could swim . I sometimes meditate and do mindfulness exercises wen I can motivate myself .
