Giant Cell Arteritis
Started with 60 mg Prednisone and slowly decreased after 2 months added
Actemra
injections once a week. Now done with Prednisone and on
Actemra
only. I’m doing well thus far and wondering if anyone is doing well on
Actemra
only. Thank you, looking forward to hearing back from you.

Ongoing headaches
Second question, in looking ahead in hopes of the headaches going away.....my rheumy who advocates for shared decision making, suggests I be able to wean quicker off the Pred because I am starting on monthly
Actemra
infusions. What is your advice for weaning with
Actemra
?

Jaw locking while tapering for GCA
I have had three
Actemra
infusions thus far. The second and third doses of
Actemra
mostly eliminated my headaches. I am currently taking 40 mg. of Prednisone. Advice?

Melanoma Surgery while taking Actemra and Prednisone
My question is: should I increase/decrease prednisone or
Actemra
for this? I’ll have two incisions for this, and wear machine that helps healing for a week? 🤨 I would be great full for your experiences and opinions

Actemra and Extremely Fast Taper off of Prednisone
It seems that her thoughts are that
Actemra
be used in lieu of Prednisone not in conjunction with, and from what I've read
Actemra
is a steroid reducing drug (at least at first) that will allow for a gradual but quicker taper off of Prednisone until such time that one would only be using
Actemra
.

Tyenne /Tocilizumab
Hi just to say I be just received a letter to say I’m changing from
actemra
to this brand. Hopefully a lower price will make it an option for more people.

Any advice to get back on track please?
(apart from cost and LFTs) PMR and DL both gave good advice as always and one of the other kind responses I had was from a gentleman who was having
Actemra
every 5 weeks, and someone else was on 3.5mg pred daily and no
Actemra
so it all seemed doable.

Quantiferon TB Golf test before starting Actemra
My Rheum wants me to start on
Actemra
for my GCA. He prescribed a Quantiferon TB Golf test (IGRA) before starting
Actemra
. Would like to know if anyone else had to have this test before starting
Actemra
. Also, for those that were on
Actemra
, how long where you on it? Infusion or injection?

Stopping Actemra
Good day all: Well, I called and canceled my
Actemra
infusion for today. I was recently diagnosed with something called MGRS (Monoclonal Gammopathy of renal Significance), It is related to Multiple Myeloma.

GCA Tapering
My second infusion of
Actemra
will happen in a week. My rheumatologist had originally suggest a taper of 50mg. x two weeks, then 40mg. x 2 weeks, then 35 mg x two weeks with monthly
Actemra
infusions . Way too fast, right?! I'll be seeing him next week.

Ending my Actemra next month
Ive been on the weekly
Actemra
syringe injections for two years. Diagnosed GCA from a biopsy in March 2022. Absolutely no side effects ever. I’m being taken off at the end of next month cold turkey. A little apprehensive (ie:scared) that a relapse may occur.

Tapering Pred from 2mg....to 1.5 or 1mg~?
To complete the picture, I do take an injection of
Actemra
weekly. My GCA started in 2019 and getting this low is a first. My dosage was increased last fall due to other health issues and being off my
Actemra
. Since September 2023, I've gone down from 60mg per day with no issue.

Actemra Side Effects?
In late November my insurance approved me for receiving
Actemra
. I did not receive my first dose till last week, Dec. 14. I felt fine that day. The next day I could hardly get out of bed, felt very bloated and nauseous.

Stress--patience--tapering going well...
Now, after just three months, I am at 4mg, along with my weekly
Actemra
. I will drop by 1 mg each month now, and the bloodwork I did a few days ago looked awesome. The
Actemra
keeps the markers in check, but everything, including my kidney numbers, was well into the normal range~!
