Hello there. Many of us remember having very panicky feelings in the shock of first finding out we had an acoustic neuroma. I was very scared, and hated the thought of having a lump in my head, wanting it operated on asap. After a while, finding out more about the different treatments, and having a year or two of watching and waiting, I had gamma knife radiosurgery in Sheffield when the tumour was starting to grow again. Day surgery, no huge pain/recovery time/dangers of infection to handle. I understand the open surgery through the ear can take a good while to recover from, involves a hospital stay and is more traumatic on the body. Ask your consultant all the questions you have, read up about the options, and see what suits your situation best. All the best for the future. xx
