Educate yourself as much as you can and be ready to ask a lot of questions. If you can take someone else to listen as well. SOme Docs are also happy for you to record what they say so you can get it right afterwards. Ask first though. Lots of good info here anworld.com/

Had my appointment like this last week. My recommendations would be.

1.Get someone to go with you.

2.Write down what they say.

3.Get the phone number of someone to call in case you suddenly remember other questions once you leave.

I was prepared for all eventualities but seeing the MRI image for the first time shocked me more than I though it would. It was the size of a Ping-Pong ball! 24 hours later it had sunk in and I was fine again.
