Treatment of the elderly by the NHS

My grandfather has just been in hospital for 5 weeks and his basic care was really lacking. No one cared if he ate his food and if he called out or rang his bell at night no one came.

As we have an ever increasing elderly population why does it have to be like this. Shortage of nurses is one thing but it also seems it is a lack of compassion for the elderly. Surely this can be improved with the proposed changes in the NHS or will it get worse?

I think it will only get worse with the cuts. I think its down to all of use to raise hell when this happpens and lodge a formal complaint, and contact our MP.
