Hi. Ive been recalled for 2nd blood test as potassium was 5.6. Ive been on dabigatran since april (am on it for life) after an unprovoked bilateral pulmonary embolism. Any ideas what, if any, treatment theyll give me for raised potassium. Thanks.

If you Google treatment of hyperkalemia, different information will pop up regarding treatments... whether it is slightly elevated or very elevated, if you have kidney disease, if you have cardiac disease, etc. Best thing is to contact your doctor and ask him/her. If you are taking additional potassium supplements you need to find out if you shouldn't take them? There is a lot of information there. Hopefully you will find some direction from there, truly with this each patient can be different. Best of luck, Cindy in NJ

Yay bloods were back to normal, doc says this sometimes happens. Even blood pressure was good. Im so pleased - one less thing to worry about :)
