Service life of a Coaguchek XS?

I've had my XS for approaching 10 years now. Has anyone any experience of how long an XS remains serviceable?

I've not had any issues with it and results are always consistent with other tests, either the surgery's own XS or path lab, I just wonder if there are any risks of it packing up due to age?

Hi Tipper. I started in 1999 with a CoaguChek, then moved to a CoaguChek S, when they first appeared and finally to a CoaguChek XS as soon as they came out. Each was better than the preceding one and none of them ever failed me. I guess that they could last forever provided that they are giving you an accurate result. The important thing is to look after them as Roche recommend and have your result verified at least once and perhaps twice per year with a clinical test at your GP or Anticoag clinic. I suspect that I am likely to "pack up" before my CoaguChek XS.

Thanks. I do have a check test at my GP but frankly he isn't interested in my results at all and the nurses always get in a tizzy because I don't use them for regular tests! I tend to request a test when I have other blood tests which seems more and more often as I get older!

I've recently moved house and may be forced to change GP so that will bring new challenges too.
