Need advice; working

I was unemployed for 7 months and just started a new job a few weeks ago and I've called in sick 3/4 times already and my boss is not happy with me. I'm filled with anger for no reason and I keep waking up at 3/4am and throwing up with anxiety and then not being able to go to sleep again, this being the reason I've called in. I need a job to keep me sane and yet I feel I may lose it because of this. I am so down and really struggling to lift myself back up .

Hi there Littlemiss97

I was so like that thats why im not at work at the minute its hard to focus when you have anxiety and youve gotta job and you feel the way you do as your mind is all over and anxiety makes you feel physically ill aswell so you dont seem to feel good in yourself either do you.but know your anxiety will subside eventually and it will come back again but then it will leave yet agan hope you start to feel bettwr soon

Hi Littlemiss,

I too have just started a new full time job after a period of working part time. For a while before this new job I had noticed that I was feeling increasingly anxious and my mood was getting lower for no apparent reason. Two weeks into the new job I decided to see my GP who prescribed me a low dose of antidepressants. There began a week of hell!! I was waking early every morning with an increasing feeling of dread about the day to come and how I was going to get through it. I was constantly heaving with anxiety whilst getting ready for work and desperately wanted to call in sick. I somehow managed not to and found that once I was in work, whilst the anxiety and low mood was still very much there, it was more bearable and at times lifted almost entirely. With all my episodes of anxiety and depression I have found that the thought of having to do something/go somewhere to be far worse than actually doing it. That said try telling yourself that mid panic lol!! I’m pleased to say that now the antidepressants have started to settle in my system I have started to calm a little. I so relate to that awful early morning anxiety. Have you seen your GP about it? I hope things work out and you’re not alone! Chris x

Do you think this is happening because you're not used to this schedule since you were unemployed for 7 months or do you think it is because you don't really like the job? Because these are two very different things. To obtain a new routine isn't easy and a lot of hardships come with it, but overtime you overcome them. Being overly comfortable all the time and getting used to not doing anything is also just as bad, but then again I don't really know your situation so it may be different. It's kind of like that feeling that you get on your first few weeks of kindergarten. When you dread going because it's new to you and you're not used to it. Overtime, however, you get used to your new routine. Sometimes it helps having a friend by your side or a family member, who can help keep you on track, someone you can vent to when it gets too much. Just don't give up so soon.
