I feel like there is something wrong with me but I don't know what it is

For years ( probably my whole life) if felt like there is something wrong with me. I try to seek out and find what it is but I can't . I'm probably just being dramatic but it still bugs me. I was always on the shh side. It would normally take me a few hours to open up to someone when I first meet them . I also always day dream, it seems to be the one place I find comfort, my mind it's like I can escape from the real world and take shelter in oh thoughts. I was bullied a little when I was younger but I wasn't all that bad. I'm a person who is restless and easily distracted. I'm a B C student at school and I feel rather useless most of the time and guilty that I waste everyone's time. I guess I feel useless because I'm not good at anything, not good at school or sports or art nothing at all. Sorry if this seems all over the place I just don't know where to start. I feel like a burden.

Hi Sookhgfdghhujj

You should try not to worry, you sound completely ok to me. You're not a burden. You're an individual and you probably are not being catered for properly at your school.

I went through a similar experience to you, I was bullied a little. I never really was an A student, I used to daydream a lot.

Firstly, school teaches you to fit into a certain way of being and acting in society, it is not really a tool for anything other than that so don't worry if you're not as good as others at certain subjects or if you're not performing at a certain level, believe me when I tell you this has no basis in how your life will go.

What do you like to think about when you daydream?

Is there anything that you think you're good at or really interested or passionate about that others don't get or understand? It doesn't have to be a school subject.

@ Sookhgfdghhujj , hi, been feeling similar of late so relate to you.

Have you talked with your GP ??

I'm sure you're not a burden, may just need a little help, perhaps meds and counselling/therapy.

Good luck

Hi Sookhgfdghhujj

First of all welcome to our supportive community.

Two of our friendly community have given their advice to you. I tend to agree with TruthSi72 as I too went through similar. Bullied at school, not great grades, in fact I never really liked school that much and never considered myself academic. I was a daydreamer too, perhaps because I was not that interested in school and perhaps because I felt different. When I left school I walked straight into a job in finance which turned into a happy and successful career.

Sookhdfghhujj you are certainly not a burden and you seem to be doing well at school. Do you think you are placing expectations on yourself that are too high? B and C grades seem good grades to me. It sounds like you are going through a period of self doubt that we all go through. It can be unsettling but you will come through. I would suggest you do the best you can at school and you may find you feel happier when you move on from your school days.

We are always here to support you if you need us. Take care and try to be kind to yourself,

Lottie x
