RIP Dad

My dad passed away today after 23 years with dementia which started early at the age of 62. Emotionally I'm a little relieved his pain and loneliness are over. But physically I can barely move and intense pain in both shoulders is pressing down on Me, I'm shaky and weak, my legs feel numb and I feel sick. I don't know how I will go on without him.

Hi LaurieRose I am not very good at giving advice and I don’t want to give you all the cliches like time being a great healer etc. I just want to say sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you we are all here to listen and some may be able to give you some good advice. Keep strong and remember we are here.

Your welcome. I lost my parents a few years ago so I know it is a very hard time for you and emotions are raw. I can now think of my parents and smile instead of feeling sad and angry etc. Take any support you can get.

Thank you so much Chloe. I'm not getting support really from the rest of the family I'm like the black sheep I feel. Also my boyfriend and my son are unemotional and my two daughters are too upset themselves. But given time I think we will be able to support each other better. I appreciate the link and yes I think I'm still in shock. Wondering whether to visit my go about the symptoms or just give it time. After trying anti anxiety medication before my blood pressure shot up even more. Compared to what my dad suffered my pains seem nothing. Feel like I'm going to pass out any minute today.

Hi LaurieRose

It's very difficult for others in your close family to support you because they are grieving themselves. At some point in the future when your feelings are not quite so raw, you will be able to mention your Dad without worrying and with fondness.

Do go back and have a chat with your GP and also mention your worries about previous medication.

Stay calm, {{{hugs}}}
