Just diagnosed with otosclerosis

I am just 22 and I have terrible tinnitus in both ears and I feel heavy headed. I have been diagnosed with otosclerosis and I have been crying since my doctor said I'd eventually and gradually lose hearing ..the noises inside make me feel worse .. please help ..will otosclerosis cause deafness? .. please help

hi sorry you have tinnitus , as far as i know it will affect your hearing like the continents but it dont stop you hearing , best to follow what your doctor tell s you and he send you to the right people who will help you

Hi

I can`t help you with otosclerosis but you have come to the right place for support.

I have tinnitus caused by hearing loss so I do understand your anxiety about hearing loss. The BTA, I believe, has an information sheet about otosclerosis. This would, I am sure, answer some of your questions and maybe give you some reassurance that things aren`t as bad as you are imagining.

Thank you Lynee Sir. My doctor said I'd need surgery . Hoping for the best .

Otosclerosis does cause hearing loss, but the good news is that surgery can really help.
