Sudden ringing and head pressure

Has anyone experienced sudden ringing in the ears that just comes on suddenly with no warning or anything?

I got it 5 times this year. Sometimes it triggers pressure in my ears.

Yesterday, while off for a walk, there was a wushing sound in my ears that was getting louder, I didn't think much about it, but it stopped, my mind blanked and there was this faint ringing in my head, it made me feel lightheaded and anxious, the volume around me felt like it was going down, not totally deaf, but low volume, this lasted for a few seconds, then the ringing slowly went away.

Had something similar last summer while I was driving and many other times unexpectedly.

I been getting a lot of uncomfortable feelings in my left ear, (the only ear I'm able to hear) for 2 weeks, it's gradually gone down now, although there is still a very mild feeling of pressure or trapped air in my ear now and then. Had the same last spring and summer for a few weeks.

It might come back worse again It's hard to know what triggers these feelings or when they come back.

I think I may have re-caught a cold or something, been recurring all October.

I had nasal sprays before from the doctor months ago, it didn't do much. I tried nasal irrigation, that helped a little, but still feel like something there. My brain feels like its humming, especially at night or waking up in the middle of the night.

The worse part is that sudden ringing, lightheadedness and volume going down as if I might go deaf. Then for days I feel fine and doesn't come back for a while.

I haven't gone back to the doctor because I'm not sure if there is a need since its not there when I get the chance I feel ok.

Everybody experiences tinnitus from time to time, that's where your brain tunes in to some other electrical activity somewhere within itself and presents it to you as sound. This usually fades after 10-20seconds or so. For the other bits - pressure in your head etc, you need to talk to your GP.

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum.

I would suggest trying to see your GP in case these symptoms are being caused by congestion or an infection. Given that these symptoms are recurrent, there could be a physical cause behind them.

We have some resources that you might like to check out in addition to our home here:

takeontinnitus.co.uk

Helpline 0800 018 0527 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) (outside the UK you can call +44 (0)114 250 9922)

Warmest wishes
